The Green Expo will run from 9am to 12 noon at the Norman P. Murray Center off LaPaz (close to Marguerite Parkway). Mt. Whitney Backpack - June 27-30th

Posted on Apr 1 2012 - 12:06am

Hike the HIGHEST PEAK in the continental United States at 14,500 feet. Although many people pride themselves in climbing Mt. Whitney in one day, this is going to be a FOUR DAY “fun” trip. As a wise hiker once told me - "It's the journey, not the destination." All hikers will need to be "checked out" - which means that they will need to have hiked or backpacked with an adult leader who can "certify" their trail-worthiness.

This is going to be a great 3 day 20 mile backpack - with beautiful scenery and maybe even a buffalo sighting or two.

Have lunch and then hike 5.1 miles to Little Harbor with elevation gain and loss of 1212 feet. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and a real campfire. Camp at Little Harbor Campground (running water).
